6,800 movies online

Warner Bros offers new service with 6,800 of its own movie titles available online.

Warner Bros is without a doubt the most avant-garde of all the majors when it comes to movie distribution using new technologies. And here's more proof.

In the near future, it will be possible to order movies that are out-of-print or not previously available on DVD. For a mere $19.95, film fans can order one or more of 6,800 titles out of the catalog from all decades, and receive a special order DVD in just a few days. So far only 1,200 Warners Bros movies have ever been available in stores on general-release DVD.

The service will be a step between DVD and Video-On-Demand. It will also be possible to buy movies for download for just $14.95.

This is good news for cinephiles of all ages who dream of owning their own copy of movies they saw when they were young, or of oldies but goodies that have all but disappeared down the years, because they don't bring in the right box-office numbers.
