Yellow Submarine in 3D
A 3D remake of the animated Beatles movie adapted from their song «Yellow Submarine» is on its way.
Robert Zemeckis will again use the motion capture (or mocap) process he applied to «The Polar Express» and «Beowulf», which takes the movements of real actors to create a virtual universe. The remake, still only in the planning stages, will also be in 3D.
There is still one obstacle to the project, however: obtaining the rights to the 15 Beatles songs from the original album and movie, which include «Eleanor Rigby», «Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds», «When I'm Sixty-Four» and «With a Little Help From My Friends.»
Disney Studios, the producer, and Zemeckis hope to be able to present the completed film during the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in London on July 27, 2012.
