Christina Aguilera plays a country girl trying to make it in Los Angeles as a dancer.
Fresh from Iowa and determined to make it in Los Angeles as a dancer, Ali is snubbed by the management of a private club where she hoped to get a job. Not giving up, she works there as a waitress and continues to try out for the chorus line. Once she makes it, Ali becomes a star in the club's little world: her bartender roommate is in love with her, a businessman who wants to save the nightclub from bankruptcy also has his eye on her, and the other dancers in the sexy troupe are dripping with jealousy...
A decent vehicle for fabulous singer Christina Aguilera's talents as a dancer and owner of some bodacious curves. Although the story is not very original, Burlesque has two major selling points: excellent dance sequences and the performance of Stanley Tucci, who is sublime as Cher's gay assistant.
