In Teheran, an upper middle class couple decides to divorce. Despite the fact that Asghar Farhadi deals with Iranian politics and religion, this film deals with neither critically in this seemingly very strictly private story. Everyone clings to “the truth one must not fear”, and with this subtle bias, it quickly becomes clear why the woman wants to leave the country with her daughter. Where lies and truth come together to better underscore human suffering, no matter what side one is on. Probably one of the best foreign films of the year.
