Movie Rating: Beatrice Thomas

In the wake of the end of the world, a prehistoric family is forced to face its fears and the world outisde its cave.

The Croods, our world's first family, lead a pleasant life in the security of a cosy cave, filling their days with hunting and stories. Every single one the father tells his family ends the same way: curiosity killed the prehistoric cat. Much to Eep's despair, the young teenager is strictly forbidden to wander outside of the cave. As far as The Croods are concerned, fear is the key to survival. But when their home is suddenly destroyed by what appears to be the end of time, the grunting gang will face no other choice than to explore the world outside, a vast and terrifying land of wonder. Luckily for them, they soon bump into an other human being, and a particularly advanced and handsome one at that. The clan will now have to evolve and face its fears to take part in the adventure of life and start building History.

Off to a rather bad start, DreamWorks studios' latest creation spreads its wings thanks to stunning visuals where Avatar meets Wonderland and where creativity seems to have no limits. Despite average story telling and unoriginal and rather ugly characters, The Croods manages to impress, masterfully taking advantage of the prehistoric setting to create an incredible variety of wondrous creatures and landscapes, bursting with color and audacity. This is The Flinstones under acid, and with it's well crafted 3D it will be sure to dazzle kids and might, in spite of its flaws, get their parents dizzy too.

It was actually very good - take the kids and both you and they will enjoy it. There as some funny moments (not many but they are there). Over all it is like ice age II where they have to get from one place to another to survive. Whilst getting there the characters have to learn to adapt/change and get along to make. A good moral for the kids and entreating for us not so small kids: -)Show more
