How to Be Single
After years of being with Josh, whom she met in college, Alice decides to test the single life when she moves to New York with her sister Meg, who has in turn decided to renounce love after a painful breakup. When she meets a wild party girl named Robin, Alice discovers a whole new life full of one-night stands, emotional rules and surprises that are more or less pleasant...
There is an air of déjà-vu to this casual rom-com, which owes everything to Sex & the City, from its stories about love and sex in New York to its four female protagonists. Which is fine, since the audience for this flick will be the same and they are sure to be satisfied. How to Be Single offers decent entertainment along this vein, a mix of loud comedy and sweet morality tale, thanks to the irresistible charms of Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson and Leslie Mann (Alison Brie, the fourth in the group, is somewhat less exciting). The result is a movie that remains generally cheesy, in contrast with a few very funny and finely crafted scenes.
