Ranulph Januh (Matt Damon) is a former golf talent, but he has lost his swing and his spirits in the trenches of World War One. But then, local belle Adele Invergodon (Chalize Theron) organises a golf tournament to which she invites Ranulph alongside two golf greats. That's when the time for Bagger Vance, the mysterious caddie, has come: it is him who will eventually help the traumatised youngster to re-discover his swing and, by analogy, his spirits.
