English girl Bridget Jones is in her early thirties and still single, and the search is on for her Prince Charming. Her other hobbies include fighting a losing battle against extra pounds and going to parties where, after the obligatory one glass too many, she puts her foot in it in one way or another. The film version of Helen Fielding's novel, with Renee Zellweger as the lovable, scatterbrained (anti) heroine offers solid entertainment and a great cast, but it doesn't manage to rise above the level of the run of the mill romantic comedy.
