For the two teenagers Enid (Thora Birch) and Rebecca (Scarlett Johansson), "Ghost World" is the one-horse California town in which they struggle to become adults after high school graduation. The two drift aimlessly through this strangely dead world full of mendacious love, false beliefs and unrealistic hope.
