Monster's Ball
Inmate Lawrence Musgrove (Sean Combs), incarcerated in southern State jail, is condemned to the electric chair. While his wife Leticia (Halle Berry) and son Tyrell anxiously wait at home his last call, the prosecuting magistrate, Hank (Billy Bob Thornton), and his son, Sonny (Heath Ledger), meet to arrange the preparations for the execution. But Sonny refuses to carry out the execution, and Hank goes ballistic. During a dispute with the father, Sonny shoots himself in the head. Meanwhile Leticia is desperately trying to meek out a living as a waitress but with little success. One evening her son is run down by a car. Hank, who happens to be in the locality at the time, offers to take her son to the hospital. The incident marks the beginning of an unusual relationship.
