Benigno, a young nurse, and Marco, a writer, both sit next to one another at a musical performance without knowing each other. Noticing that his neighbor is completely moved to the point of tears, Benigno wonders if he should approach him, but decides not to at the last moment. A few months later, the two men meet, but under different, much graver circumstances, at the hospital where Benigno works: when Marco's girlfriend - a professional torero - goes into a coma after an accident during a bullfight, Benigno is at the bedside of Alicia, a young dancer he barely knows but has fallen in love with. Alicia is also in a coma after being hit by a car. Benigno again notices Marco, and this time he doesn't hesitate, but speaks to him. A great friendship is born...
