A young man finds out he is one of a special breed of people who have evolved into "jumpers" - those who can teleport themselves from any one place to another. At first he takes advantage of his power by doing things like jumping from the beaches of Australia to the Sphinx in Cairo, robbing a few banks along the way. Then he meets another young man like him and realizes there are people who are determined to get rid of jumpers for ever, and that a war has been going on for thousands of years to do so.
