Boule dreams of having a dog. The red-headed boy is overjoyed when his mother (*Marina Foïs*) organizes a surprise visit to the SPCA, much to the chagrin of his father (*Franck Dubosc*) who doesn't want anything that sheds in the house, especially once he decides they're moving to Paris for professional reasons. In a tall apartment building in the grey suburbs, Boule and his parents get a new start, one that is not very favorable for the antics of the new member of the family: Bill the dog. So the little guy bends over backwards to make himself loved by Boule’s grumpy father...
