A teenager trained by her ex-agent father is sent by him on a mission.
Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) is raised by her father (Eric Bana) in the depths of the Finish forest. With an encyclopedic knowledge of things, he teaches her endurance, cunning, the art of combat and how to kill. When she's ready, he sends her to assassinate Marissa Wiegler (Cate Blanchett) a CIA double agent. But Marissa is on the lookout for Hanna and sends someone else to be killed in her place. Hanna escapes and a great chase begins...
Walt Disney Studios used to turn fairy tales into animated films, sending young girls off on adventures, at the end of which they would turn into docile wives. That was then – this young girl sheds plenty of blood, seems to have no feelings and is a stranger to empathy. Except that unbeknownst to her she's been genetically modified and isn't always able to make her own decisions. This extra dimension may be the only thing to move those who are prepared to swallow the plot whole.
