Vampire Academy

Movie Rating: Geoffrey Crété

A half-vampire, half-human teen indoctrinates her BFF.

Linked by a supernatural friendship, Rose and Lissa are exceptional teens. A descendant of a royal family, Lissa is a Moroi, a noble vampire in search of her destiny. Half human, Rose is in training at St. Vladimir's Academy to protect Lissa at all costs. Together they will find out who are their real enemies, discover love and the true meaning of friendship.

Reminiscent of the cheap and cheesy Scary Movie series, which ate the souls of all who saw them, Vampire Academy is a piece of junk. A mix of overblown mythology and humor that tries too hard, this movie by Mark Waters (Mean Girls, was much better) fails on all levels. Ugly, boring, banal, Vampire Academy serves up every cliche in the genre without inventing anything new and takes itself far too seriously as an action flick. And there is enough trash out there as it is, trying to cash in on the Harry Potter and Twilight franchises - as seen in the latest attempts, Beautiful Creatures and The Mortal Instruments.
