Depression, doubts and relationship problems mark five friends as they reach their forties.
As they try to deal with their various midlife crises, five friends approaching their forties reunite: Carlo the hypochondriac still can’t accept his separation from his wife; Adriano is back in Italy after serving time in a foreign prison for drug trafficking; Paolo pops antidepressants while having an affair with Adriano’s ex; Marco and his wife struggle to have a child; and the disenchanted Alberto dreams of dropping everything and emigrating to South America...
Gabriele Muccino's seems to have made liberal use of the copy/paste function in this poor man's Woody Allen film, but without witticism or self-deprecating humor. 50 years ago, the films of Marco Ferreri analyzed couple relationships within Italian society, and are today more modern and relevant than this depressing soap opera.
