The professional ambitions and romantic disappointments of a young and very gifted chef.
Daniel, a Spanish cook just arrived in Zurich, has been hire to work for Thomas Wackerle, who runs a popular luxury restaurant. He immediately falls for Hanna, the beautiful sommelière, but she is having an affair with Thomas, who is married and doesn’t want a divorce, even when she announces she’s pregnant. Will the ambitious Daniel stay on track in his career or lose it all to his heart?
With beautiful images of Zurich, snappy initial dialogues and top-drawer actors (Unax Ugalde has some eloquent silences; Herbert Knaup lets some cracks show in his icy character), the director has all the ingredients necessary for serving up a fresh film. Unfortunately, the bland story leaves the audience hungry for content and the characters are too busy navel-gazing to be sympathetic.
