To protect them from civil war, Spanish orphans are sent to the Soviet Union, but war catches up to them.

Paula, the daughter of an aristocratic Spanish nationalist, is pregnant by a militiaman. She has her child in secret and places him in an orphanage. Pretending to do charity work, she visits him there each day. But then civil war comes and the orphans are sent to communist comrades in the Soviet Union. Taking on a false identity, she decides to join the adults accompanying them. But then WWII comes and the targeted group of Spaniards are forced to flee eastwards from the advancing Germans...

This film by Carlos Iglesias (who also stars) was shot in the Swiss Jura region. It deals with exiles being uprooted, the suffering experienced by those who aren't allowed to be themselves, and reminds us with good reason that our acts also mark the course of history.
