A Mexican is hired in Texas to hit a politician fighting illegal immigration.

After witnessing his wife decapitated by a powerful and sadistic drug dealer, a Mexican who's good with a machete (which is where he gets his nickname, Machete) reluctantly accepts a contract to hit a reactionary Texas senator whose main aim is to stop illegal immigration and deport those without legal papers. But as he's about to pull the trigger, Machete realizes he's been set up by the senator, the drug dealer and the extreme right, who hope to win the senator the sympathy vote. To re-establish some sense of justice, Machete recruits the help of a former killer turned priest (who records his flock's confessions on CD!) and two sexy & determined Latinas...

In the wake of the excellent Planet Terror, Robert Rodriguez returns to the movies that inspired him with this homage to cheap and kitschy 70's productions filled with naked women, illogical plot twists, and gory scenes diffused by parodic humor. With an impressive cast: Danny Trejo as the lead, Steven Seagal, Don Johnson, Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba and Robert DeNiro, very funny as the senator.
