Their names are Jonas, Michi, Benji, Kevin and Sascha. They are ten to 18 years old and share a room in oncology at the local hospital. Four of them have cancer; the fifth is waiting for his diagnosis. With their futures uncertain, each in his own way tries to deal with the situation, and they are all helped by their burgeoning friendship, their lust for life, which makes it easier to come to terms with a difficult present and an insecure future.

Michael Schaerer's first feature is a balanced, moving drama about young terminal patients. He shows their doubt, fears, anger, vitality and hope in the face of death, without resorting to pathos or kitsch. Thanks to the boys' mischievousness and their gallows humor, their characters are impressively realistic.
