Des vents contraires
The sudden disappearance of his wife leaves a family man in distress.
A couple (Audrey Tautou/Benoît Magimel) has a dumb fight the morning before they each leave for the day. They might have made up by evening, but the young woman never arrives at the hospital where she works. Confronted by the news, her husband finds himself completely gutted, alone with their two children and hoping for some sort of message about her whereabouts. He finally seeks solace in his home town, where his brother and another tormented family man slowly help him get back on his feet...
Jalil Lespert, breathes a fresh wind into a drama that has the good taste of not milking every tear from its audience. Despite the initially tragic subject matter, inspired by the novel by Olivier Adam, Benoît Magimel finds the right tone for his second collaboration with the director of 24 mesures. The off-season beaches of Saint-Malo and the Channel in winter are the ideal setting for this sombre and restless slice of life.
