Rock n'roll is Ren McCormack's great passion. But his family has just moved to the sleepy town of Bomont, where Reverend Moor rules over everyone. After the death of his son in a car accident, Moor implements a strict ban against music and dancing, but Ren soon finds himself regularly flouting the ban. And when he falls for the reverend's rebellious daughter, things heat up even more.

In the 1984 original, Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer danced their way into the hearts of audiences all over the world. This time around, newcomers Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough put on their dancing shoes for a plot that remains more or less the same, except that the cuts are faster and the choreography sexier. Craig Brewer's remake is successful, but the story is as lame as it was the first time.
