14-year-old Francesco sings in the Lateran choir, goes to a secondary school supported by the Vatican and almost every week stands just a few meters away from the German Pope Benedict XVI. But he is never spoken to by the pontiff, who has other things to do. Francesco's chance comes with the search for a soloist for a concert at the Vatican.

This German-financed documentary is well-made and takes on many of the Catholic church's problems, but t is also somewhat stuffy. Whether Francesco gets to go is suspenseful enough, but why he's so impressed by the luxurious pope given his juxtaposition against the poverty in the world the church dominates is not really clear.
