On her release from juvenile detention, Maria goes back to street dancing and finds her past.

Freed from a center for juvenile delinquents, Maria (Katerina Graham) is picked up by Connie Daniels, the mother of Honey, the hip-hop star who gave her a passion for dancing. She finds two small jobs, and when she's noticed by Brandon (Randy Wayne), lets herself be convinced to join the dance crew "HD" for a televised competition. But she hasn't reckoned with her old friend Luis, who heads up the "718" crew and will do anything to win...

Film and music video director Bille Woodruff (Honey in 2003) returns with a sequel, but Honey 2 hasn't got much to do with the original except that it's also about street dancing, which is presented as a cathartic way for young people to work off anger and frustration. If they manage to avoid confrontation through dance, the audience applauds. For fans of Fame, Sexy Dance, Save the Last Dance and others in the same vein.
