John Smith, an attractive teen, is actually from the planet Lorien, which was destroyed by the Mogadorians. Only nine gifted children survived by escaping to Earth. But their enemies are still after them: three have been killed, John is number four. With his protector Henri, John moves from city to city, changing his identity as he goes. In his current high school, he falls for one of his classmates.

It's not surprising that I Am Number Four is being hyped as Heroes meets Smallville: apparently even its marketers agree the story is unoriginal. Luckily, it's still a somewhat entertaining sci-fi action flick that is helped along if seen in a big-screen theater – although this means its rampant product placement becomes even more obvious.
