Po barely has time to enjoy his new life as a dragon warrior when China is threatened by a peacock named Shen, who wants to take over the country with a secret weapon, declaring war on Kung Fu itself. At the same time, Po is plagued with flashbacks of his childhood. His father, the gander and noodle cook Mr. Ping, admits finding Po as a panda baby on his doorstep in a vegetable box and adopting him. For Po, the fight for China's freedom becomes the search for his own identity.

This sequel is a tender animated film that is more about heart than humor. The many martial arts clichés become somewhat tedious and the introduction of new characters like the Kung Fu legends Ox, Crocodile and Rhinoceros seem wasted, but they may get more to do in part 3...
