La fée
The night manager of a hotel in Le Havre gets three wishes from a fairy.
As the night manager of a hotel in Le Havre, Dominique (Dominique Abel) receives a strange client. Barefoot and looking like a vagrant, Fiona (Fiona Gordon) says she is a fairy and gives him three wishes. In the morning, two of his wishes have come true... This odd couple makes its way through a choreographed love story in which the line between fantasy and reality is thin. They become separated, but cleverly get around the pitfalls placed in their way. As a child resulting from their union is born under a star that luckily allows it to survive the clumsiness of its parents, all is in place for a happy ending, but the story does have its twists...
La fée is a burlesque comedy, an improbable stitching together of scenes with papier-mâché styling right out of a traveling show that contrasts with fabulous images of seaside landscapes under the heavy sky of northern France. Gangly, scrawny puppets become graceful and strong as the disjointed film, directed and performed by these two tightrope walkers together with Bruno Romy, proves that even if fairies don't exist, at least there is magic.
