Les femmes du 6ème étage
A middle-class family man discovers the exuberant temperament of the Spanish neighbors who live in his building.
In Paris during the 1960's, Jean-Louis Joubert (Fabrice Luchini), a middle-class family man and stockbroker, lives an orderly and somewhat boring life. Following the retirement of his late mother-in-law's nanny, Joubert's wife decides to hire a Spanish maid on the advice of her friends. Falling for the maid's charms, Jean-Louis discovers the world in which she lives: the upstairs rooms in his building, where Spanish women sing and laugh loudly – and couldn't be farther from his austere bourgeois society...
Absolutely wonderful comedy that gracefully skirts around upstairs/downstairs and tortilla & flamenco clichés. This simple, modest and optimistic film is balm for the soul without being soppy, and there's never a dull moment.
