A photojournalist covers police who protect children in Paris.
A photojournalist is assigned to cover a Paris police department that protects minors. She accompanies them in their daily duties, in cramped offices dealing with abused children and their accused parents, meeting a series of adults who love their children badly, too much or not enough. The cops have their own foibles as they try to deal with difficult and often insufferable cases without letting it get to them. The reporter tries to find a place within this team, which functions almost like a family, where each person has their own role, tying the team together...
A veritable nesting doll of human pain set in an extremely intimate ambiance, with an almost documentary feel. Maïwenn Le Besco again takes on the subject of child abuse after 2006's Pardonnez-moi, which was largely autobiographical. With a solid cast (Marina Foïs, Karin Viard, Jérémie Elkaim, Joey Starr) of actors who each form a strong piece of this team that holds together despite the absurdities life dishes up. Absurdities presented without false modesty, but with a high risk of tears and one quirky scene that is extremely hilarious.
