Emily Browning plays an Australian student who offers her graceful body to rich, lecherous bourgeois men when she’s asleep.

Lucy, a virginally and angelic blonde student, lives frugally thanks to small odd jobs like busing tables in restaurants, getting paid for medical testing or making thousands of photocopies in an office. With a condescending and icy attitude towards everyone, Lucy also turns tricks in the trendy bars of the Australian town where she lives. Until the day she joins a circle of high-end, well-paid call girls who make their milky bodies available to rich but practically impotent men who try to regain their virility through erotic games...

Having played a "girl power" hooker in the geekey Sucker Punch, Emily Browning this time plays a student who sells her body to lecherous old men, in a film with a deadly and opaque atmosphere that is also fascinating, directed by the novelist Julia Leigh. Aimed at experienced audiences, this Sleeping Beauty joins the ranks of House of Tolerance and The Night Porter, and the decidedly more debatable Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom by Pier Paolo Pasolini or Stanley Kubrick's ridiculous Eyes Wide Shut.
