Movie Rating: Melanie Zahar

Existential fable in which a couple in their thirties give themselves one month of freedom before adopting a cat.

Sophie and Jason, a thirty-something couple living in Los Angeles, find a stray cat with a broken paw. After taking it to the SPCA, they decide to adopt it, despite their common fear of this kind of responsibility. With the cat in the animal hospital for a month, they plan on taking that time off work to enjoy being creative and hanging out with friends. But exactly this freedom will put their relationship in jeopardy...

Very elegant at the beginning, this existential fable by Miranda July unfortunately loses consistency as the story continues, deteriorating into a sad bit of self-analysis that never becomes truly emotional. A shame.
