The friends of a man who hates lying above all hide a variety of truths from him.

Walter (Gérard Lanvin) lives a very full life: his restaurant is soon to get a star, he still has his old friends Paul (Jean-Hugues Anglade) and Jacques (Wladimir Yordanoff) and he loves to fish. But most valuable to him are his daughter Clémence (Ana Girardot) and his almost obsessive regard for the truth – which also comes with an abhorrence for lying. But when the four of them go on a fishing trip, Paul, a not very prolific writer, falls for Clemence, lets himself be inspired by his feelings for a new book and insists the subject be kept a secret. This is just the beginning of a whole series of lies that affect both the mood of their trip and their seemingly indestructible friendship. And it turns out that Walter has a few lies of his own...

This mish-mash of lies and revelations soon proves to be too predictable to sustain real interest on the part of the audience. Although the cast is well chosen and likeable, the heart of the film holds no surprises.
