Paul loses his head over a woman as his father dies and his mother goes crazy.
Ada (Valentina Cervi) is an illustrator for a publishing house, living happily with her future husband and her daughter. She meets Paul (Louis-Do de Lencquesaing), a writer edited by the same publisher, who lives with his daughter. Then his father dies and subsequently his mother (Marthe Keller) goes crazy. At a cocktail reception Paul literally falls at Ada's feet, and his feelings become entwined between mourning for his father, being happy as he spends time laughing with his brother despite their family situation, the love he feels for Ada, and his own role as father, lover and son. Paul writes the novel of his life as it all overflows onto the page...
A record of life, death and love, set in an affluent Parisian world that perhaps does a bit too much navel-gazing, but nevertheless remains interesting to watch. Louis-Do de Lencquesaing cracks open the door to this family's world and lets the viewer witness intimate stories and private scenes that can be understood by all. When the door closes again, life goes on. All that remains is a vague memory of having crossed paths with people who are pleasant but not unforgettable.
