A man is asked by his wife to help an undocumented woman whom he will meet by chance.

Damien (Jean-Pierre Bacri) is requested by his wife (Kristin Scott-Thomas) to ask a favor from his father (Claude Rich), a state councilor who could use his contacts to help Zorica (Isabelle Carre), a young Serbian woman who has always lived in Paris but whose refugee status has been refused. But asking his distant father for help, a man who never has more than a few minutes on the fly for his son, turns out to be a hard nut to crack for Damien, who has a hard time sustaining relationships with everyone, never mind his own father. Without knowing it, Damien meets the young woman whose fate rests in his hands and he falls for her charms...

Pascal Bonitzer's film dishes up a full serving of French liberal guilt through leftist bourgeois Parisians torn between little existential problems mixed with the plight of undocumented immigrants. The general tone is unsurprising but the movie is enhanced by a rich group of colorful characters and spiced by spirited dialogue.
