Dredd
In a broken future America, a cop named Dredd fights a life-or-death battle against drug baron Ma-Ma.
In the near future of Mega City One, the cops rule as judge, jury and executioner over 800 million people. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) and his colleague Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) investigate a triple murder in a huge residential complex – where Ma-ma (Lena Headey), the head of a gang, operates a giant drug lab. When the judges come for her, she seals off the building and sounds the battle cry.
Dredd exists because Judge Dredd starring Silvester Stallone was a flop in the mid-90's. DNA Films has taken this opportunity to make the new adaptation truer to the comic book than the first. The simple story works thanks to great action scenes and the incredible coolness of lead actor Karl Urban, who never takes his helmet off, but seems even more efficient because of that. Presented in 3D, Dredd is one of the few movies where that is an actual added value.
