A boy brings his dog and faithful best friend back to life, thank to his new science teacher.

Victor can't get over the brutal death of his best friend: Sparky, his dog. When his new science teacher holds a competition for his class, Victor may become the happy winner thanks to a discovery. Each time a storm hits his not very pleasant town of New Holland, the boy is able to charge his deceased friend with a few more volts. But his secret soon comes out when his jealous schoolmates try to revive a few of their pets, at the risk of populating their town with undead mutations of all kinds from the local pet cemetery.

Tim Burton ushers the audience into a high gothic pet cemetery, where creatures both rich in color and sketched in black and white await. Burton has himself resurrected his own characters from 1984 by turning his short film homage to Frankenstein into a feature-length remake. Magnificently poetic!
