Les seigneurs
A ruined and alcoholic former soccer player takes over a village team in Brittany.
A talented former soccer player, Orbéra (José Garcia) is now ruined, an alcoholic and in the middle of getting divorced. To get custody of his daughter, he has to get a decent job and treatment for his alcoholism. So Orbéra accepts a job as a coach for the local soccer team in Molenne, a small isolated village in Brittany. The team is already good enough to have made it to the championships, where the prize money would save the sardine factory where everyone works, and the whole village in the process. In preparation for this mission, the new coach brings in as ringers his old teammates (Joey Starr, Franck Dubosc, Gad Elmaleh, Omar Sy) who were all stars once, but have had little opportunity to play...
An entire team of popular French comedians lace up their boots under the direction of Olivier Dahan, who, after La vie en rose, takes on a new genre in which everyone gets their 15 minutes. The actor-players each get time to kick the ball around and do a bit on the pitch, which boils down to a painful parade of wheezy-faced has-beens doing sketches when they should have stayed in the locker room. Les seigneurs are kings only during the third half-time, i.e. sharing a drink after the game.
