Prometheus
A team of scientists travel to a far planet in search of clues to where life comes from.
After noticing commonalities among frescoes from various eras that show a solar system in which one of the planets may be the cradle of life, two archaeologists team up with other scientists and a cyborg for a space mission on board the Prometheus. If life were created on another planet, all current theories – from Darwinism to creationism – would be blown to bits, leaving way for another theory: that mankind comes from extraterrestrials. Once in space, the mission turns into a nightmare when the team discovers a strange and enormous cave...
Marketed as a prequel to Alien in the months before its release without really being one, Prometheus oddly has more in common with the other science-fiction masterpiece by Ridley Scott, Blade Runner. In effect, the theme of creator/creature and the cyborg character played by Michael Fassbender is reminiscent of Rutger Hauer's replicant with existential doubts. Although it doesn't reach the same level as those two films, Prometheus is nonetheless a solid space thriller. Fans of the genre will love the excellent sets and horror scenes.
