Seven Psychopaths
Marty the writer and his crazy friends – the second surreal comedy by "In Bruges" director Martin McDonagh.
In his second gangster movie after In Bruges, Irish director Martin McDonagh tells the story of a scriptwriter in Hollywood (Colin Farrell) and his friend (Sam Rockwell) who make ends meet kidnapping dogs. While the script is stuck at the title phase – "Seven Psychopaths" – dognapping is big business. Until our heroes get into real trouble when the friend takes the lapdog of a tough and crazy mob boss (Woody Harrelson), who mows down anyone in the way of getting his doggie back.
With In Bruges, Martin McDonagh showed that a gangster movie can be quiet and elegant without being any less funny or violent than other thrillers. His latest film is a kind of current status assessment for the genre. Thanks to brilliant dialog and a charismatic ensemble cast, this movie is extremely entertaining.
