Ted
Feature debut by “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane: comedy about a foul-mouthed, pot-smoking Teddy bear.
John (Mark Wahlberg) wishes on a star and his teddy bear comes to life. After the initial shock has worn off, Ted briefly becomes famous and their friendship continues as usual. 27 years later, John and Ted live together, taking the edge off with beers and bongs in front of the TV. At first John's girlfriend Lori (Mila Kunis) takes this in stride, but when they start talking marriage and his immaturity, her ultimatum is simple: it's her or the bear.
Seth MacFarlane's typical Family Guy humor - coarse, silly and of course politically incorrect - saves his feature debut. With gags set up exactly like for the small screen, the plot is secondary, which becomes a problem in those instances where "Ted" needs a story to push it along. Luckily MacFarlane's performance as the pubescent teddy is spot-on and hilarious.
