An unskilled pirate dreams of winning the prize for "best pirate of the year". From one of the makers of Wallace & Gromit.

A naive and unskilled pirate captain has no chance against Peg Leg Hastings, Cutlass Liz or Black Bellamy, who are also going after the trophy for "best pirate of the year". No matter who he and his inept crew encounter, each time is a fiasco. Until the day they catch up with the boat of Charles Darwin. Darwin wants the pirates' mascot, a dodo bird he thought was extinct, so he dangles inestimable riches to tempt the captain to deliver the bird to the despotic Queen Victoria...

Director Peter Lord (one of the makers of the Wallace & Gromit series) has made an animated film full of plot twists. A charming loser ready to sell the soul of his crew for a little recognition puts on a great show for Royal Society to win the support of all scientists as the movie denounces the cynicism of global powers. For once, audiences young and old will be able to enjoy a plot that isn't hackneyed.

If you loved Wallace & Gromit then this is a must see movie for you. British comedy at it's best.
The movie is a mix of both situational and slapstick comedy thrown in with some very witty lines to make sure you leave laughing and wanting more. If you can watch the movie in English (with subtitles) as some of the phrases do not translate well in German.Show more

I would like to see this in English as I suspect the German Hugh Grant is going to be a huge disappointment!!!
