Kate Beckinsale wakes up after 12 years of sleep and gets back into her latex costume to battle mankind as vampire warrior and new mother.

After being on ice in a research lab for more than a decade, vampire warrior Selene (Kate Beckinsale) is able to escape and finds out that she is meanwhile the mother of a 12-year-old girl, a vampire-lycan hybrid. The exceptional girl is being hunted down, but Selene realizes she is stuck in a world where humans seem to have annihilated lycans and vampires in a merciless war.

Bloody and lead-strewn installment in the Underworld series, whose trivial content is sure to disappoint even fans of the vampire vs. werewolf myth. Although Underworld: Awakening is action-packed, it is also a humorless attempt to cash in on the franchise. Even the nifty 3D effects can't change that.
