To breath some life into what has become a monotonous vacation ritual for his wife Debbie and their two sons, Rusty Griswold decides to organize a road trip to Walley World, the biggest amusement park in the country, which he visited with his parents as a kid. But the result is a 4000-km trip full of surprises that transforms his good intentions into a vacation from hell…

Stupidity is sometimes good, as evidenced by Vacation, a prototype of summer comedy that is both dumb and irresistible. A new entry in the National Lampoon's Vacation franchise, which saw four sequels follow the original and successful Vacation of 1983, this late sequel is a laid-back version of the real thing: from the comfort of a movie theater seat, there are comic stunts, a few explosive ones, there’s time to catch one’s breath during a few calm scenes and the trip seems worth it as soon as it’s over. Scripted by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, the writers of Horrible Bosses who debut here as directors, Vacation provides a fun adventure that is witty and well-paced, with a taste for humor that is absurd and extreme resulting in scenes sure to become legendary. A thousand times better than Ted 2, thanks to an acting duo (Ed Helms and Christina Applegate) that brings rare skill to the genre, making them satisfyingly watchable.
