A mysterious plague has affected specific regions of the planet. But before anyone even has time to fully notice, the sick have taken over everything, attacking populations in crazed barbaric fury, convulsing madly and biting their fellow human beings, infecting them on the spot and turning them, in turn, into wild unstoppable flesh-eating zombies. One U.N. inspector (Brad Pitt) might have the key to humanity's survival, but he must start by facing death, and death, it seems, comes in aggressive and pretty fast hordes.

Showing great skill, director Marc Forster manages to create a truly frightening and suspenseful zombie film without ever resorting to graphic violence or gore. If some of the writing is at times more that questionable (here's looking at you AGAIN Damon Lost Lindeloff), the directing and editing is smart and measured, building up suspense and creating a believable situation rigged with heart-stopping frights and impressive large scale zombie invasion scenes. It's an extremely entreating zombie flick though fans of the book must take note it is nothing like its source at all.
