Eyjafjallajökull - The Volcano
A divorced couple is forced to travel together to their daughter’s wedding.
Alain (Dany Boon) and Valérie (Valérie Bonneton)’s grown up daughter is getting married, and in order to go to the ceremony on a Greek island, the divorced couple embark on the same plane. When, however, a famously unpronounceable volcano erupts and paralyzes all European flights for a few days, they find themselves forced to travel together by car or any other means possible. There’s just one little problem. They absolutely and fiercely loathe each other.
Eyjafjallojökull is as hard to watch as it is to spell. A badly written film about two exes constantly fighting should at least be able to make the characters somewhat likeable or turn the whole thing into a dark and sordid type of comedy to compliment the awful war. This film fails miserably at both tasks. The characters are beyond unbearable; they are whiny, hysterical, and loud. Those who enjoy constant high pitched screaming on screen will be pleased, but lousy, childish shouted dialogue doesn’t constitute a big enough comedic effort.
