In the 1980s, a lawyer abandons his career to devote himself, body and soul, to equestrian show jumping.

Raised by a father (Daniel Auteuil) with a love for horses, the young Pierre Durand (Guillaume Canet) takes part in competitions, but when it comes time to study, he chooses the law and follows a career into a firm. Tired of his petit bourgeois life, he strives to get back in the saddle and realize his dream: to participate in the Olympic Games. Saddled with a young horse called Jappeloup, which he doubts is any good, Pierre starts training again. But the little horse shows astonishing qualities, skill in show jumping and an elastic reach, which is soon recognized by the equestrian world. But to succeed the duo has to become a team and develop rock-solid confidence in each other. With the help of his wife (Marina Hands), who also rides, and a young female groom who works at the stables where Jappeloup was born, Pierre belives he can win at the Olympics...

This semi-biopic inspired by the career of multiple medal-winner Pierre Durand and his horse is reminiscent of long afternoons watching the televised broadcasts of the Olympic Games, where one competition follows another and the hunger for medals is felt in each household. As a result, viewers who aren't great fans of show jumping are likely to drift off, due to the extreme lack of intrigue. Not a film that inspires you to jump two fences and a river upon leaving the theater...
