Jimmy Picard (Benicio Del Toro) is in treatment at a Texas center specializing in brain disease. A former soldier for the US army in France during WWII, the Plains Indian now has a scar on his skull and a number of symptoms, such as temporary blindness. But although the doctors’ diagnoses are “good”, his trauma is not in his body, but in his soul. Under the care of anthropological specialist Georges Devereux (Mathieu Almaric), Jimmy’s task is to rummage through the memories of his childhood and unravel his dreams if he wants to find out what is happening to him.
