Jimmy Picard (Benicio Del Toro) is in treatment at a Texas center specializing in brain disease. A former soldier for the US army in France during WWII, the Plains Indian now has a scar on his skull and a number of symptoms, such as temporary blindness. But although the doctors’ diagnoses are “good”, his trauma is not in his body, but in his soul. Very beautiful encounter between two individuals who open Jimmy’s mind like a treasure chest to see what inside. This box is stuffed full of childhood memories, stored there so long that only a small part can be found years later. In an uncluttered setting, the patient and his shrink meet daily to travel down a long path through Jimmy’s memories. An enjoyable film.
