Les reines du ring
A young mother joins a professional wrestling team to impress her son.
Rose (Marylou Berry) has been estranged from her son since spending time in prison. Discovering his passion for professional wrestling and hoping to connect with him through the entertaining sport, she cajoles an old wrestler (André Dussolier) into offering training for herself and her three cashier co-workers (Nathalie Baye, Audrey Fleurot and Corine Masiero). In keeping with tradition, each woman has to choose a persona as they go up against a redoubtable team of Mexican professionals. The international bout will take place in three months: enough time for the ordinary women to turn themselves into mistresses of their own lives.
Deliberately kitschy, often vulgar and playing with the sensitive plotline of a mother who'll do anything to win back the love of her son, Jean-Marc Rudnicki's debut movie will leave more than one viewer with a headache, despite the impressive cast. A slap in the face of good taste that puts subtlety in a headlock.
