A young Frenchman's rite of passage takes him to his father's homeland in Algeria.

With his father sick and afraid of losing the house he built with his own hands in Algeria, Farid (Tewfik Jallal) is sent there to fix the situation, not knowing what lies in store. Far from the Parisian suburbs, for the first time in the country his family comes from but whose language he doesn't really understand, the young man meets his cousin (Jamel Debbouze), a clever man who may not have been lucky enough to grow up in France, but who has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Forced to stay longer than planned, Farid finds himself undocumented and confronted with the red tape of the French administration. This gives him the opportunity to appreciate his luck and get to know his roots more closely, as he sits at the village bar waiting for the only public phone to ring and give him good news...

Mohamed Hamidi's debut uses a good portion of humor to deal with a deep subject without getting too depressing. The light tone makes it easier to pass on messages without bitterness or judgment, which makes this rite of passage film a moving stopover in the land of social comedy.
